United Voice WA, the hospitality union, is calling out an East Perth restaurant’s attempt to use public donations to pay workers.
East Perth’s Co-Op prematurely and suddenly closed last week and has since been asking for community support through a Go-Fund-Me page to help pay for staff and suppliers.

The union difference
We pride ourselves on providing the “union difference”. Our culture and values are union and we fight for the best possible outcome for our clients. We believe in challenging injustice and fighting for workers’ rights. We understand what our clients need and the difficulties they face when seeking compensation.
Unlike other law firms, any money we make is put directly back into helping achieve better pay and conditions for workers in Western Australia.
United Voice is your union for enrolled nurses, assistants in nursing, hospital support works, and Aboriginal and ethnic health workers. We represent workers in private health across the state and in a range of facilities.
We fight for fair pay, better conditions and job security.
Through collective bargaining United Voice members win pay rises and significant improvements in our conditions of employment.
We empower workers to know their rights at work and advocate on issues impacting us. Members actively work towards solutions in our workplaces and to resolve issue with management through Joint Consultative Committees.
We’ve fought hard and had a lot of wins together – but there’s still work to be done.
The first step is to join United Voice so we’re as strong as possible, and can keep making progress for private health workers.
United Voice is your Union for Support Workers in public and private hospitals.
United voice members in hospitals work as Aboriginal Health Workers, Cleaners, Cooks, CSSD staff, Enrolled Nurses, Food Service Assistants, Kitchen Assistants, Laundry staff, Orderlies, Patient Care Assistants, Porters, Sterilisation Technicians, and more.
We are at the frontline of defending quality public and private health, and quality jobs for hospital workers - having fought hard against budget cuts and privatisation over many years under the previous Liberal Party Government.
We have fought hard and taken a LOT of action together; and it show's.
Government Health support workers in Western Australia have some of the best support worker wages and conditions in Australia.
But there's still a lot of work to done, especially when it comes to insecure work.
That's why we are running the "Target 10" campaign, to:
1) Increase secure Employment
2) Achieve more hours for part-time staff
3) A target of no more than 10% casual or agency usage in each hospital department and occupation
The first step is to make sure our Union is as strong as possible.
Crown Perth is the biggest hospitality employer in WA. Thousands of people work here – so it’s easy to feel like you’re just a number.
That’s why casino workers have joined together in United Voice – Australia’s Casino Union.
Our Union is thousands of Crown workers with one powerful voice. We are standing together to win secure jobs with fair pay and good working conditions.
We come from every department of the casino, from table games, food and beverage, cage and count, hotels, security, and more.
What we’ve achieved together...
We’ve been united, active and strong for many years, and have celebrated some big wins. We’re proud to be some of the best paid hospitality staff in Western Australia - with some really great workplace conditions – all won through Union power.
In our last agreement, we won a commitment from Crown that our Penalty Rates would not be reduced. And this time around we won a commitment from Crown that Penalty Rates wouldn't even be on the table at negotiations.
Our strength is in numbers. The more of us who join our Union, the stronger our voice will be.
Every member who joins means more power to win better pay and conditions, and to make sure we are treated with respect at work.
United Voice is your Union in Early Childhood Education and Care, with thousands of Educators standing together across every state and territory.
We are Educators, Early Childhood Teachers, Cooks, Assistant Centre Directors, Centre Directors - everyone who works in an ECEC Centre can be a United Voice member.
Through our national campaign, Big Steps, we're fighting for early childhood members to be valued for the vital role we play educating children in the early years, through professional pay.
As Australians we pride ourselves on living in a country that values hard work, a fair go and equal opportunity for all.
But the gender pay gap has grown in the past decade. Working in a female dominated sector like ours, and that means we're still some of the lowest paid professionals in Australia.
A responsible government would have already delivered us the respect we deserve: professional pay that recognises our essential role in society.
As a united workforce, standing together in our union, educators are a powerful force for change. The more of us there are, the bigger and louder our voice is.
We will not be ignored!
There has never been a more important time to be a union member.
