This week Louise Tarrant advised United Voice’s National Council that she will not nominate for a third term as National Secretary of the union.
David O’Byrne is acting in the role of National Secretary while Louise is on leave.
The United Voice National Executive has unanimously endorsed David to head the union’s leadership team as National Secretary in the coming union elections in September.
David is a familiar face at United Voice. Many members know him from his 16 years with the union’s Tasmanian Branch, first as an organiser and later as Branch Secretary.
In 2010 David moved from United Voice to the Tasmanian Parliament, where he served the people of Tasmania as a local member and as a Minister until the State election in March this year.
