United Voice, the Casino Union, are ready to take industrial action for a fair pay deal at Crown Casino Perth, after applying for protected industrial action today.
Workers throughout Crown Perth will be taking a stand against the offer of a 1%, 1%, 1% pay rise over the three years of the new enterprise agreement, despite Crown’s profit of $746.6 million from 2015 to 2018.
United Voice WA Secretary Carolyn Smith said the proposed pay increase over 3 years will mean Crown is only giving workers 1.33% of the profits they helped create.
“It’s absurd for Crown to offer a 1% pay rise considering how much money they have made over the past three years,”
“Members are not asking for much and are not afraid to take action.” she said.
United Voice members have been campaigning for a 3% pay rise each year, for the duration of the three year Agreement.
Ms Smith said the amount is reasonable and necessary to keep up with the rising cost of living.
“Right now Crown is asking workers to boost their bottom line by essentially taking a pay cut. Members aren’t asking for the world, they just want a fair deal,”
“Members at Crown are prepared to show Management how important they are to the profitability of the business.”
